Easy Liver and Gallbladder Cleanse Offers Immediate Results

The Liver
The Liver

It’s that time of year when we climb out of our winter caves and prepare for another year of activity. The first thing many of us do is clean out winter’s accumulation of dust and grime and bring in fresh air and sunshine.

However, when it comes to our bodies, it seems that most of us do very little cleansing. It seems that we take better care of our homes than our bodies.

At Surrey Natural Foods, we suggest that you start with cleansing your liver and gallbladder. The liver is one of the most important organs of the body, performing functions related to (among other things):

  • digestion,
  • metabolism,
  • detoxification,
  • storage of nutrients,
  • production of vital protein components of blood plasma, and
  • support of the immune system.

In fact, the liver performs over 500 different functions. It is of vital importance yet we, North Americans, do very little to support it. The result is that we succumb to many chronic diseases which could be avoided if we looked after our livers properly.

Our favourite liver cleanse is the Stone Cleanse by Shael Stonebridge. Based on a recipe by Andreas Moritz, this time-tested program helps the liver and gallbladder release stones which have formed in them.

Shael packages the seven-day Stone Cleanse kits himself, using targeted ingredients recommended in a specific order to promote the pain-free expulsion of gallstones from your liver and gallbladder.Ingredients include:

  • Magnesium malate OR malic acid for the first six days.
  • Colosan tablets on day six and day seven.
  • Epsom Salts OR magnesium citrate mixed with water on day six and seven.
  • Grapefruit Juice mixed with Olive Oil on day six. (not provided in kit)

The cleanse also requires one twenty-four hour fast from 1 PM of day six till 1 PM of day seven. Sounds simple, doesn’t it? If you’re anything like me, after looking at that list you probably have a lot of questions.

Fortunately for people interested in his products, Shael endeavors to respond quickly and make himself available. In my case, he answered my email in less than an hour. Here are the questions I sent to him and the answers he provided.

What is the purpose of the malic acid or magnesium malate during the first six days of the cleanse? Please explain.

This breaks up the gallstone matter in the liver ducts into nuggets which can safely be pulled from the liver during the StoneCleanse.

Are there any side effects?

Only very mild effects reported.  Loose stools are normal during the cleanse.

You list in your insert that Magnesium Malate can be used for aluminim detoxification. Is the same true of Malic Acid?

I am certain of Magnesium Malate’s quality as an aluminum chelator.  I do not think Malic acid alone will do this.

What is “Colosan”?

Magnesium Oxide.

Why fast between day 6 and day 7?

So food in the digestive system will not interfere with the cleanse.

What is the purpose of the espsom salts or magnesium citrate drink beyond creating a laxative effect?

Providing enough magnesium to make the bile duct supple enough to pass a golfball-sized gallstone with no pain.

livergallbladderWhat is the purpose of the Olive Oil / Grapefruit Juice mixture?

To trigger the flow of bile from the liver and gallbladder.

Why should I lie down for 20 minutes directly after taking it?

So that gravity will not hasten the passage of the olive oil.

Will I be up through the night going to the toilet?

Not usually.  In my many cleanses – I have done 54 to date – I only had to get up in the night twice.

When should I expect results?

Gallstones should be floating in the toilet with the first loose stools of the morning of day 7. No gallstones may pass with the first and second cleanse — it may take 3 cleanses to dislodge them enough to pass. This happens with about 3% of people starting the cleanses.

What kind of results should I expect?

To pass gallstones from the liver and gallbladder, repeat the cleanse until they are all out!

What are the benefits of doing this cleanse?

  • Restoration of essential bile flow to digestion.
  • Restoration of alkalinity to the lower digestive tract.
  • Restoration of the liver’s ability to dump filtered metabolic waste down the bile duct, eliminating it from the body, instead of being forced to store this toxicity within.
  • With the liver working for you instead of being sidelined ALL systems and organs will be restored and revitalized — many illnesses and issues will vanish.

StoneCleanse-Maximum-StrengthHow often should I repeat it?

Every 2 weeks.

Shael’s Stone Cleanse takes the guesswork out of liver and gallbladder cleansing. He offers four “strengths”: Maximum Strength, Regular Strength, Gentle Strength and Most Gentle Strength. But, I recommend talking to Shael about your unique needs to determine the best package for you.

You can reach him by email at mysimpleideas@gmail.com. He is also available at Surrey Natural Foods every Saturday from 10 AM till 5 PM. Call Surrey Natural Foods at 604-588-3828 to book an appointment.

Survey Results: Four Main Health Challenges

By Trina Ricketts

old-age-1The bad news is: 100% of the 63 fans and customers who participated in our recent survey, are aging. The good news: Age ain’t nothing but a number.

Jesting aside, the results of our recent survey were very enlightening. We learned about the health concerns you are dealing with and the health topics that interest you most.

For starters, who are you? It was great to learn that:

  • The majority of you (60.3%) are women between 35 and 55 (49%) but we also had many participants in the over 55 range (30%).
  • At least one of you is a “Zoomer” (baby boomer with a zip) “who wants to live forever.” We suspect there are many of you. 😉
  • Most of you work full or part-time and 22% of you cope with a chronic health condition.
  • Almost all of you, who answered our survey, shop in the store (92%) but 20% of you order online too.

A sincere thank you to everyone who participated. We held a draw for a $50 gift certificate and Roya was the winner. We recorded the draw and put it on youtube.

What Is Your Biggest Health Challenge?

This was by far the most interesting part of the survey results. As you can imagine, health conditions suffered among 63 people who shop at a natural food store run the gamut. We cannot mention them all here for lack of space.

However, there were four areas of concern that really stood out. Here they are in order of frequency mentioned starting with the most talked-about health challenge from the survey results.

  1. Diet and Nutrition Challenges
  2. Weight Challenges – mostly overweight but also underweight
  3. Gastrointestinal Challenges – including autoimmune diseases
  4. Pharmaceutical Injury and Detoxification Challenges

These are very broad categories and there may not be a “one size fits all” approach to coping with challenges even within the same categories. Alternately, there may be ways you can support health across the board.

We will touch on each of the above topics briefly, but we encourage you to come down to the store or give us a call to discuss your unique supplemental nutrition needs.

Diet and Nutrition Challenges

We are probably preaching to the choir when we tell you that the most important thing you can do for your health is to correct your food. But even the staunchest foodies will forget sometimes.

When one diet combination doesn’t seem to be working for you, the solution is to try another. In all the stories where people cure themselves of chronic debilitating diseases, they had to change their diet many times before they got it just right.

Medi-C-Plus-VitaminCChanging your diet, in itself, can be very challenging. But it is worth it. And when you get the results, you will find the motivation to stick with it.

If you are in the midst of changing the way you eat, be prepared for a healing crisis. Many people describe the course of their recovery from chronic illness to be a series of healing crises, whereby the body is becoming healthier, so it does some housekeeping to clean out the toxins that are causing your dis-ease.

Healing crises can be severe and debilitating. But there is one supplement that will always help you during a healing crisis – vitamin C. Our favourite vitamin C supplement is Medi-C Plus which is a product of Dr. Gifford-Jones, an eminent natural health proponent. He says:

“This vitamin bolsters the immune system and decreases the risk of shingles, promotes healthy gums, guards against mercury and lead toxicity, decreases wrinkles and even neutralizes the venom of rattlesnakes.”

There are many benefits to supplementing with vitamin C; an easier detox from changing your diet is just one of them.

Weight Challenges

The unfortunate thing about weight challenges is that we don’t always see an improvement overnight. There are so many underlying issues, that what works for one person may not work for another.

ionic-magnesiumSimilarly, different bodies react to the same problem in different ways. An underweight person may be dealing with nutrient absorption issues, but so might an overweight person. Hormones affect our weight and vice versa.

One thing that everyone should pay attention to is their poop. Whether it’s coming out or not, and how it looks when it’s coming out. If your poop is not healthy, you aren’t either.

There are many supplements that can help to get your bowels moving. One that seems to be a “best kept secret” is magnesium. People who have been plagued by constipation for years have been astounded at how well a simple magnesium supplement can make a difference.

One of the very best magnesium supplements you can get is the ionic form of magnesium. Not only does it help with constipation, but many have testified to other incredible benefits such as pain relief, lowering blood pressure, and lessening premenstrual syndrome symptoms (PMS).

Gastrointestinal Challenges

vita-biosaWithout a doubt, when it comes to gastrointestinal challenges, there is always one supplement you should be taking. Probiotics. No matter who you are or what your medical history has been, if you suffer from gastrointestinal distress in any way, you need more of the good bacteria.

We recommend Vita Biosa as an ideal probiotic due to its triple-fermented and liquid properties. It is easily digestible and designed to match the ph of your stomach so that those little bacteria warriors survive and get to the intestines where they are needed the most.

For people who prefer to swallow a capsule rather than drink a liquid probiotic, Dr. Ohhira’s is superior.

Pharmaceutical Injury and Detoxification Challenges

Does this describe you? There are many of us who trusted the medical establishment when they prescribed us pharmaceuticals but those pharmaceuticals went on to hurt us severely.

Whether it was vaccine adverse reactions, antibiotic toxicity, disintegration of bones and cartilage, or other mind-boggling damage – the number of people harmed by pharmaceuticals is staggering. It is one of the leading causes of death in America.

Whatever immediate and urgent damage we are responding to, we also need to address the toxicity that has inevitably burdened our bodies through pharmaceutical exposure. Our livers take the brunt of this work, so it makes sense to support the liver.

We spoke in another post about Shael Stonebridge’s Liver Cleanse which is an affordable and effective way to gently cleanse the liver regularly. There is also Liv-Herbal Formula, which is known to be very effective at supporting the liver, especially in extreme cases.

We’ve only scratched the surface of how you might address the challenges listed above. Depending on your unique circumstances, there may be more appropriate supplements for your needs.

Circumstances vary and may include what you can afford, whether you’ve had body-altering surgeries, whether you are dealing with emotional stressors in your life, and more.

(In her own words)

As a longtime Surrey resident, working at Surrey’s original Health Food Store is a lot of fun and very rewarding.

Every day brings new opportunities to help people along in their quest for health, energy and well-being. No matter where we are on this path, there are always steps we can take to feel better and there is always more to learn.

People come to the store to buy their regular groceries, pick up a few supplements, and often stay to chat for a while and exchange ideas on health issues.

We have a lot of customers who are glad they can get what they need close to home, as well as customers who are in town for only a day or two and make the store a special stop during their visit.

This is my favorite store and I hope it will be yours too! See you soon!
